Board-Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, Amanda Silva, MD
Dr. Amanda Silva is a board-certified, fellowship-trained plastic and reconstructive surgeon and associate professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery. She specializes in complex reconstruction throughout the body utilizing microsurgical techniques, including breast reconstruction, facial, head, and neck reconstruction, lymphedema surgery, limb salvage surgery, and more for our Charlottesville, Virginia, patients.
A northern Illinois native, Dr. Silva completed her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, before attending medical school at the University of Texas in Houston. She completed a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Chicago and a prestigious fellowship in complex reconstructive microsurgery at New York University. Dr. Silva has been in practice since 2018 and joined UVA Health in January 2024.
She is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery (ASRM).

Why did you decide to pursue plastic surgery as a profession?
As a plastic surgeon, we have the ability to improve a patient’s quality of life. I love being able to make people whole again after cancer treatment or trauma. I also enjoy collaborating with other specialties to think of creative ways to solve problems and improve outcomes for patients.
What is your approach to patient care?
I really care about my patients and focus on the details of their care. I value good communication, and I want to ensure they understand all their reconstructive options and work to help them make the decision that’s right for them.
